A big Howdy from the State of Texas. I wanted to thank everyone for their recent support and well wishes while we went through this unnecessary energy crisis because of extreme winter weather, albeit not unpredictable.
Our office was flooded from a burst pipe and after implementing fans, wet vacs, a dehumidifier and increased heat, the unwanted water has dried with minimal damage. We have emerged from the other side of the tunnel however, there is still no running water in our office, and buckets are still needed to flush toilets, but at least we no longer need to boil our drinking water!
This crisis was absolutely avoidable and should never have happened, since a similar crisis took place 10 years ago (Jon Oliver does a superb job summarizing the incident), and nothing was done to rectify the problem. The death toll across Texas from the winter storm has been devastating for residents and wildlife. My heart truly goes out to each and every one of the victims.
Now many Texans that are over the hump of freezing weather and damages, are now dealing with sky-high electric bills. Texas has a long way to go to rectify this mess and keep us much safer than being minutes away from complete collapse.
Our weather has returned to the 70s and the sun is again shining, now hopefully we can have a chance to winterize our electrical grid, which in the long run will be cheaper than these devastating disasters that may return at least every ten years. Hopefully, we can make that happen!
