Using QuickBooks on a Second Computer Here’s How:

  1. Go to your new PC and install QuickBooks.
Download the software to your laptop through this link: Download QuickBooks Desktop. https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products
Complete the download information and click Search.
    Click the Download button.
Once the download is complete, the installation will automatically start. If it doesn’t, double-click the installer file to proceed.
Select Yes to All then click Next.
Mark the Software License Agreement, click Next.
Enter the License and Product numbers, click Next.
Pick the type of installation you want.
Choose where you want to save QuickBooks.
Pick a new install location or select Next to install to the default directory.
Click Install. If you need more help click here https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/Install-QuickBooks-Desktop/m-p/201334
  2.  When completed, Go back to the old one and create a backup copy of your company file.
When you save the backup file, give it a unique name so it’s easy to identify and you don’t overwrite anything. Save the backup file somewhere you can find it easily.
  3. You can either put the backup on a flash drive or an external device. Copy the backup file to your new machine using your device or you can share it if your new computer is on the same network.
  4.  Restore the backup on the new PC:
    1. Insert your personal storage device into the new computer and open QuickBooks. If you haven’t already installed QuickBooks on the new computer, do this first.
    2. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
    3. Select Restore a Backup Copy click Next.
    4. Select Local Backup as the location for your backup file, then Next.
    5. Navigate to your personal storage device and click on the QuickBooks backup file. Click Open and Next.
    6. Select a folder to decide where to save your restored company file. Then select Open, confirm that you want to restore the backup file, and select Save to initiate the restore process.
Don’t overwrite anything unless you know you want to.
Now you can start working from your company file!
