Helpful Quotewerks Tips to Mak Quotewerks More Efficeint

Here are a couple of tips for using QuoteWerks that I find very helpful when I have too many open quotes and need to close a few that I am not currently using.

My favorite is to simply click the”Window” dropdown, then “cascade” – this shows all of the currently open windows in a cascade for, so you can easily x out of the ones you no longer need or choose your preferred quote. – Make sure that you save the quote before closing.

Another helpful tool for finding another quote that you have already opened is by pressing CTRL-TAB repeatedly to cycle between the currently open quotes.

I hope these tips help you find what you are looking for! They are very simple, but very efficient. More tips to come in the future!

Help I need Tech Support!

What happens when you are working in your company files and suddenly all of your information is gone? This such incident just happened to me. At first, you think, surely this is a simple mistake, let me go back…Well, that didn’t work. Then ideas start racing through your head, …Oh god, did I delete everything? Then your heart starts racing faster and faster… Is it salvageable? How long will this take to fix? Will my coworkers and boss banish me? Am I doomed?

Luckily I didn’t have to question, who should I call? Our company has the best customer support already- us! The great thing about working for a company that provides tech support for their customers is that I can get great support quickly and easily, simply by sending a quick chat message or dialing an extension – I am currently working at home because of covid otherwise, I would just yell to their office as we work in the next room.

This is how it all began:

My boss nicely asked me to update some missing information for our customers in QuickBooks. I willfully obliged as the list wasn’t very long, and it was good practice to not overlook this step in the future. As I was working in recurring transactions in QuickBooks for our hosted customers, I suddenly couldn’t find one of our customers, and then another, until I realized all but one were gone.. poof.. disappeared like a ninja after a smoke bomb.

Before I asked for help, I knew that our files were backed up every night, just like we provide for our customers. So I couldn’t have done too much damage. I also researched that there is no way to delete all recurring transactions, so I knew it wasn’t a button that I had accidentally pressed.

As I said, I knew where to go for help. The reply was very speedy with a helpful response that was, “Maybe it’s under a different name?” Which I knew wasn’t the case because I had already checked that. Then he said that he would check and look. I was immediately advised to log off and log back in – as he had corrected the issue lickity-split. The information was still there, thank goodness. No need to redo data entry.

Since I was no longer worried about losing information and the time it would take to fix it, that got me thinking, that I had just gotten the opportunity to experience our tech support firsthand, and it was superb! Now I can see why our customers are always so grateful.

Is Crypto the Future or A Tulip?

I have been wanting to invest some of my saving in the stock market for about 10 years now, but having grown up in the 80’s, 90’s and 200’s, hearing how many lives have been ruined by market crashes, I have been frightened of the downside, and hesitant to actually purchase anything. However, with inflation rising rapidly and income prices stagnated, to have enough money for retirement, some kind of investment is essential. (Plus I don’t like NOT doing things because I am scared of them.) Another roadblock that I am having is, what the hell is cryptocurrency, really, and it’s assured to crash at some point… right? Am I too late to the game, or should I still look into investing?

I found this great article about cryptocurrencies from The Times, comparing the craze to the “Tulip Mania” of 1636.  There is a movie based on the true event, “Tulip Fever.” I can definitely see similarities between the two, but cryptocurrencies have already been around longer, and seem like they may be able to stabilize at some point.

I still have a ton to learn, but cryptocurrency, which seemed like such a long shot from ever becoming a thing, like a Trump Presidency, seems to becoming accepted in the mainstream, and not just the fringes. With major brands beginning to use it, is cryptocurrency here to last? Will Bitcoin stay the major player and become the dominant currency? Or will it explode and fizzle out and just become a novelty in the near future? When subsequent generations look back and say, “why would they place so much value on an abstract currency with no inherent value?” Just as no one today would pay more than a couple of dollars for a tulip bulb. I have more questions than answers at this point, as only time can tell what will become of cryptocurrencies, but I am going to keep doing some research, and will share the best-of when found.

I encountered an interesting article that I thought that I would share with you about Microsoft submerging servers into liquid baths to cool them down.

Anyone that has ever been in a room with a server knows how much heat they can generate. I am glad they are finding alternate solutions to cooling systems that drive up energy costs. Especially as the amount of data that everyone uses continues to rise.
